In a recently released national ranking of 5,000 university doctoral programs, the Martin School was recognized as an outstanding program.

The National Research Council ranked the doctoral program in Public Administration between #4 (tied) and #11 overall in the rankings of programs in public affairs/policy/administration.

The rankings also bring the Martin School to the top of doctoral programs at the University of Kentucky as well. "The NRC assessment confirms that the Martin School offers a doctoral program that is among the very best in the nation in public administration," said William Hoyt, Director of the Martin School. "It is a credit to our outstanding faculty, our productive alumni, and our talented and dedicated students."

Data for these rankings capture program activity between 2002 and 2006 in 59 fields of study. These rankings are based on measures of doctoral program quality in a particular field, not just perceived rankings based on prestige. The rankings used 21 measures of quality.
