Biography

The Martin School is pleased to introduce our newest faculty member, Dr. Rebecca Bromley-Trujillo. Dr. Bromley-Trujillo joined the Martin School this fall, after completing her Ph.D. in Political Science at Michigan State University. Raised in Austin Texas, she received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and worked for a year with the San Antonio city council before moving to Michigan to pursue her graduate studies. Dr. Bromley-Trujillo’s research focuses on policymaking at the state level, looking primarily at issues of environmental and healthcare policy. Her dissertation examined explanatory factors for environmental activism within American states.

Dr. Bromley-Trujillo was attracted to the Martin School because of its interdisciplinary focus – she believes that the feedback of a broad audience is extremely beneficial for the research process. She also says she was drawn by the school’s fantastic reputation and the immediate sense that it is a place where everyone, both faculty and students, are willing and eager to work together toward notable accomplishments. Dr. Bromley-Trujillo is currently teaching two courses: The Policy Process, taken by all first year Masters students, and Policy Analysis, a second year MPP course. In the spring she will be offering a course in one of her areas of expertise – Environmental Policy. One of her favorite aspects of her new position is the combination of teaching and research responsibilities.

Although she is a Texas native who spent a number of years in Michigan, Dr. Bromley-Trujillo has had no trouble making Lexington her home. She really enjoys all of the things Lexington has to offer, from the city to the naturally beautiful areas surrounding it. She was accompanied on her move to Lexington by her husband, Paul, and two-year-old son, Sam.
